The Days Are Getting Shorter...and It's Still June!

You missed Monday’s workout, so you wrote off Tuesday. You missed a week, so you wrote off the month. You missed a month, so you wrote off the year.

Last Sunday was the longest day of the year which means the days are already getting shorter...and it's not even July!

I don't know about you but that doesn't thrill me at all; in fact it's depressing a bit.

The year is half over, and it feels like winter was a few weeks ago.

It seems like yesterday we were putting away Christmas and looking ahead to a new year...and now it's half over.

Remember that? The time when you looked ahead...dreamed of what could be and decided what would be different?

Since we're half way through the year, I thought it would be a good time for us to pause, take stock and consider a few things.

What's Changed? Are you making progress on your goals? Have you made the changes you hoped you would?

Remember when you said, "This is going to be the year..." You can fill in the blank.

"I'll lose 20 pounds."

"I'm getting out of debt."

"I will start that project I've been putting off."

"I'll read more."

"I'll pray more."

I hope you're able to celebrate progress.

But if you're discouraged and frustrated with the lack of change in your life, let me make a few suggestions as to why that might be.

You Were Lied To

You can't get healthy in a month. All the "30-day transformations" or "8 days to a flat belly" promises are misleading. In fact, I would say, the first month is when most people quit, when they are just getting started; getting healthy takes much more time than you can sell in program. Can you imagine, "Get fit and lose your belly in 18 months, maybe more."

Words Are Cheap

If you know me you've probably heard me say this. It doesn't matter how much we talk about changing something, if that is all we do.

Real change doesn't need words it needs action and actions need a plan. You have to decide ahead of time what steps you are going to take to see the results you want, and then take the first one.

You Believe Imperfection is Failure

You missed Monday’s workout, so you wrote off Tuesday. You missed a week, so you wrote off the month. You missed a month, so you wrote off the year.

The people who succeed in pursuing their goals, do not do it perfectly...they don't punish themselves; they simply pick back up again after falling off.

Life is rarely up and to the right...it's usually more of a zig-zag.

The question is what will you do next?

You've heard the old saying, "The best time to plant a tree is 20 years ago. The next best time is today."

So what are you waiting for?

We have half a year left in 2026, and the days are getting shorter!

Keep going.

Pick up where you left off.

Celebrate the wins.

Take a step in the direction you want to go.

Until next time - Dan
