Question For You
As a life coach, I ask a lot of questions. In fact, I ask way more questions than I give answers. But I know what you're thinking, "Dan, you don't sound very helpful." But I believe that good questions are powerful and can lead to the kind of changes that people are looking for.
So today, I thought I would ask you this question...
Q. What is God's plan for your life?
As you're contemplating this, I would guess that there are at least 4 possible responses, one of which is probably yours...
- I know it
- I don't know it
- I don't care to know it
- God doesn't have one because God doesn't exist
So what do you think? Where did you land?
I know - tells me you have a clear idea of what God has for you to do with your life...maybe you were one of those weird kids (kidding of course) who knew at age 5 what you were going to spend your life on...or much later in life you stumbled on to it...but one way or another, you could tell me quite clearly, what God's plan for you is.
I don't know - tells me that perhaps you're aware of ideas of calling or purpose, or however you define it, but you're just not certain you know what it is at this point of your life.
I don't care to know - this response suggests to me that you are frustrated or have been disillusioned, struggling to know what the point of life is...and as a result you have resigned yourself to living with a life that is unfulfilled, or without meaning or purpose. But I would also suggest, that deep down, in the secret parts of you, that you do care.
God doesn't have a plan for me because God doesn't exist - this response tells me you are doing all you can hold fast to the idea that life is random, without any real purpose or meaning outside of how you define it. If that's you, that's okay...for now.
What Drives You?
For me, I can't get rid of this line in my head..."One of life's greatest tragedies is to live it, without knowing why." This is what motivates me to spend much of my time listening and encouraging people to discover who they are, why they're here, and to live out their calling.
I am convinced that God has created us for a specific purpose..."For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." (Ephesians 2:10)
Kathy & I are heading to Alberta tomorrow to visit dear friends and hike the Rocky mountains, and it's incredible to me that the Creator of the universe decided long before I ever arrived on this planet that there were specific things for me to do.

I find that compelling, and I hope you do too.
So what about you?
What's your answer to the question? Do you know God's plan for your life?
If yes...great!
If you don't know...it's not too late to discover it for yourself.
If you don't care...I'm sorry. (But I don't whole-heartedly believe you)
If you don't believe God exists and therefore doesn't have plan for you...would you consider this?
What if?
What if God exists?
What if God created you?
What if God knows who you are?
What if God created you, knows you (better than you do) and has specific things for you to do?
These questions are in the Look Above chapter of my book, Vantage Point: Five Perspectives to Live a Better Story and I think they are questions are worth exploring. What do you think?
I told you, I ask more questions than I give answers.
If you know God's plan for your life...fantastic!
If you're not sure you know God's plan for your life, why don't you start by simply asking Him? Start the conversation and see where it goes.
If you don't care to know God's plan for your life, all I can do is say, I spent a chunk of my life raising my fist at God, but that didn't lead anywhere good.
If you just don't believe God exists, I plead with you to just ask those "What if" questions...
Hey, if you'd like to chat then lets do it!
Until next time - Dan
