It was surreal to see his decades of thoughts on paper and imagine all he did so faithfully for so many years. He impacted a lot of people.

God knew us and had a plan for our lives, before we were even born. That should cause us to pause and consider a few things.

...regardless of our goals, ambitions, and best efforts it's easy to get sidetracked isn't it?

Personally, I think this is one of the most important questions we can ask ourselves. Not to create undue anxiety and unwanted stress, but so that we can live with purpose and fulfillment. I'm convinced that one of life's greatest tragedies is living it without knowing why.

We live in an age where we are surrounded, even bombarded by noise. We carry mini computers around with us all day with notifications pinging. We have so many streaming options that we are always a click away from some kind of input...movies, sports, news to mention a few...

The leaves are changing...another reminder that change is inevitable. As Parker Palmer says, "We don't control the seasons, they happen to us."

There truly is a sense of freedom on two wheels. Freedom from the daily routine; freedom from mundane tasks; freedom from knocks on the door, screens or texts.

during our weekend of day trips, 1200km on the motorcycle, we counted over ten drivers who cut us off or pulled out in front of us...and while I enjoy practicing my emergency braking as much as the next guy, six or seven of those were closer than I liked for sure.
